How manufacturer AI brand monitoring works in ChatGPT and Perplexity

What you’ll learn

  • What a manufacturer should log when checking how assistants describe its company
  • How asking directly, governance tools and visibility platforms differ in what they show
  • How to turn findings into page fixes and track the visits that follow

ChatGPT and Perplexity each describe your company in their own words, and the two answers can differ. This guide explains manufacturer AI brand monitoring: what to check, which platforms help, and how to turn what you find into fixes.

How manufacturer AI brand monitoring checks ChatGPT and Perplexity

ChatGPT reached 900 million weekly active users as of February 2026, so the way it describes a factory's products now reaches a very large audience. In practice, manufacturer AI brand monitoring is the routine of asking assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity about your company, your product lines and your category, then recording what each one says, which sources it leans on and where it gets you wrong. Perplexity launched in August 2022 as one of the first assistants built on up-to-date web data, while ChatGPT is positioned as a conversational assistant for diverse tasks. Because the two work differently, one assistant can describe a part, a certification or a capability correctly while the other leaves it out or credits it to a competitor. A useful monitoring setup therefore compares both assistants side by side, on the same questions, and repeats the check over time rather than once.

Start with the log itself. For each check, record the exact question, the assistant, the date, the answer, and the pages it cited. The comparison from Coursera, updated in 2026 lists web access as yes for Perplexity and limited for ChatGPT, and SE Ranking describes Perplexity as giving cited sources for every response. That makes Perplexity the easier place to see which of your pages, or which third-party pages, shape the description of your products.

ChatGPT is worth the same attention because of its reach: 900 million weekly active users as of February 2026. When its answer differs from Perplexity's, treat the gap as a finding, not noise.

Which platforms show how ChatGPT and Perplexity describe a manufacturer

Perplexity has used up-to-date web data since its launch in August 2022, and a comparison updated in January 2026 lists web access as yes for Perplexity and limited for ChatGPT. Good manufacturer AI brand monitoring across the two assistants needs a way to read the answers, see the cited sources and follow the visits that come afterward. Four kinds of platform show up in the sources reviewed for this article, and each one is framed here by the pain it addresses. Asking an assistant directly shows you one answer. A governance tool shows how your own staff use assistants. A visibility platform shows what assistants see on your site. Each is described below from the published material, with its price where one is given, including the point where it stops short of showing a manufacturer how its products are described to buyers.

ChatGPT, asked directly. The pain is wanting to read the answer yourself. ChatGPT Plus costs $20/month and Pro costs $200/month, and a typed question returns one answer from one moment. It does not tell you who visited your site afterward.

Perplexity, asked directly. The pain is the same, with one advantage: Perplexity Pro is $20/month and, according to Zapier, you can choose among models including GPT, Sonnet, Gemini, Nemotron and its in-house Sonar. That lets you see how different models describe your products. It stays a manual query, so it still gives no record of visits or orders.

nexos.ai. The pain is governing how your own team uses assistants. nexos.ai describes unified access, security and usage tracking across ChatGPT, Perplexity and 200 plus other AI models for enterprises. That concerns your staff's usage, not how outside assistants describe your company to buyers.

Arbling. The pain is not knowing what assistants actually see on your site. Arbling shows the owner what those assistants see and what to fix, recognizes every AI visitor, crawler and agent that reaches the site and what it does there, and reports the orders and revenue that AI referrals bring. It installs on any website with one line of code.

For the visit side of this picture, the guide on AI traffic analytics versus AI attribution explains why counting visits is not the same as knowing what they were worth.

Turning manufacturer AI brand monitoring into fixes and orders

Perplexity surpassed 30 million monthly users by April 2025, up from 10 million in January 2024, so the audience that can read an assistant's answer about your company keeps growing. Effective manufacturer AI brand monitoring only pays off when the findings turn into fixes on your own pages and into a record of who arrives afterward. The work has a simple order. Write the questions a buyer would ask, run them in both assistants, note every wrong or missing statement, trace it to the page or third-party source the assistant relied on, correct that source, and run the same questions again. Because Perplexity shows cited sources for every response, the trace is quicker there, and the same corrections tend to help the other assistant as well. Repeating the process through 2026 turns a one-time curiosity into a habit with a measurable trend.

The scale is recent. Getpanto reports roughly 780 million queries in May 2025, and it dates Perplexity's start to 2022. Business of Apps gives August 2022 as the launch month. Numbers like these explain why a wrong description of your products can spread widely, but they also change fast, so keep your own log rather than trusting any one count.

Model choice matters too. Zapier says Perplexity Computer orchestrates between 19 different AI models and matches each to the task, so the same question can be answered differently on different days. That is the reason to repeat the check and compare results across time.

The fixes themselves are plain. State capabilities, certifications and product specifications in readable page text, and add structured data that matches the visible copy. Write the plain-language answer first and the markup second. After that, watch which AI visitors arrive and whether they become quote requests or orders.

Where Arbling fits. Arbling makes a business readable, trusted and chosen by AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, whether it is an online store, a manufacturer or print studio, a wholesale distributor or a software company: it shows the owner what those assistants see and what to fix, recognizes every AI visitor, crawler and agent that reaches the site and what it does there, reports the orders and revenue AI referrals bring, can make a price for an AI visit where the business allows it, always labeled as set by an algorithm, and turns an AI visit into an order, a quote request, a demo or a sign-up. It installs on any website with one line of code and reaches a business without a site through the agent protocols.
